Before the job

What do you need to charge?

This is what you need to charge, not what you can charge. It is your floor: below it the work does not pay for itself once tax and costs are out.

Step 1 of 4

Where do you work?

Tax rules are national. We only show verified numbers where we actually have them.

Why are we asking?

The Dutch calculation runs on rules we verified at the source, line by line. We have not done that work for other countries yet, and we will not pretend otherwise. Outside the Netherlands the tax share is an estimate you control, everything else is arithmetic that holds anywhere.

Step 1 of 4. Where do you work?

Most rate calculators get this wrong

A flat percentage is wrong in both directions at once. On € 80.000 of revenue with € 35.000 of costs, the 30% rule sets aside € 24.000 against a real bill of € 7.279,80. At € 95.000 of profit the same rule leaves you € 4.914,90 short. Freelens used to apply that rule. Replacing it is the reason this page can exist.
